Leeds United took a significant step towards Premier League safety with a commanding 3-0 victory against nearly-relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers at Elland Road.

ESPN reports that first-half goals from James Justin and Noah Okafor set the tone, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s stoppage-time penalty secured back-to-back league wins for the first time this season. Daniel Farke’s team is now six points clear of the relegation zone, following their recent 2-1 victory over Manchester United. This ninth league win of the season has propelled them further away from the bottom three.

Wolves, who sit at the foot of the table, began the match 15 points adrift of safety and could see their relegation confirmed this weekend if results do not go their way.

Leeds started explosively, with Calvert-Lewin forcing Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley into a smothering save within the first minute, and Justin heading over shortly thereafter. The early indications suggested that Leeds had no residual effects from their earlier win against Manchester United.

The game took a decisive turn with two goals in quick succession. Justin opened the scoring with a brilliant overhead kick in the 18th minute, following a blocked effort from Ethan Ampadu during a corner. Just two minutes later, Wolves captain Toti lost possession in midfield, allowing Brenden Aaronson to break down the right and deliver a precise low cross to Okafor, who netted his third goal in two matches and seventh of the season.

Wolves briefly threatened when Ladislav Krejci’s back header was cleared from under the posts by Calvert-Lewin before half-time. The second half saw Leeds adopt a more defensive approach, as Wolves struggled to create meaningful chances. Krejci did manage a glancing header from a Hugo Bueno corner, but it was comfortably saved by Leeds’ goalkeeper Karl Darlow.

Wolves missed another opportunity when substitute Rodrigo Gomes shot wide, while Aaronson received a yellow card for an off-the-ball shove on Krejci, who was subsequently forced off due to injury.
