The founder of Nacabs Polytechnic, Akwanga, Nasarawa State, Mr Mandy David Abuluya, has appealed to the federal government to extend the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to private polytechnics.
He said doing so would assist greatly in enhancing research and development in the country.

He spoke when he received the “Best Private Polytechnic 2025 Certificate of Credence/ Award” from the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), at the institution’s campus in Akwanga yesterday.

He said many private institution owners established the schools out of patriotism, and appealed to the government not to leave the responsibility entirely to them.

He said the fund should include the private institutions to enhance staff and infrastructure development.
Mr. Abuluya, who extended the gratitude of the management for the award, said the gesture was a wake-up call on the institution to strive for more laurels.

He assured of the commitment of the institution to provide quality education that would contribute to the overall development of the country.
According to him, the management is determined to make the school a world-class polytechnic.

NAPS national president, Comrade Ridwan Opeyem, said the institution was selected for the award because of the infrastructure and quality education being provided for students.

“We are here to present Certificate of Credence to Nacabs Polytechnic Akwanga as the Best Private Polytechnic, 2025. We don’t just give awards like that, we went round private polytechnics across the country to assess their infrastructure development and interacted with officials of the Students Union Government and students of polytechnics across the country, “ he said.

Opeyemi, who is a student of the Federal Cooperative College, Kaduna, commended Nacabs Polytechnic for providing a conducive environment for teaching and learning.

“It is only Nacabs Polytechnic Akwanga that employ their own products, it is one of the polytechnics that do not have issues with NBTE and allows students to operate democratically,” he said.
