Paris Saint-Germain defender and Morocco captain Achraf Hakimi is set to face trial on a rape allegation.
French media outlets, including France 24, confirmed the development on Tuesday, citing judicial sources and the player’s legal team.
The case originated from a complaint filed on 26th February 2023 by a then 24-year-old woman. She alleged she was raped at Hakimi’s home in Boulogne-Billancourt, near Paris, after meeting him via social media and visiting his residence late on 24th February.
A formal indictment was issued five days later against the then 24-year-old former Inter Milan, Borussia Dortmund, and Real Madrid player. Prosecutors in Nanterre initially requested in August 2025 that the case proceed to a criminal court.
Tuesday’s confirmation signifies the conclusion of the investigative phase, with the investigating judge deciding to move forward with a trial.
Hakimi, 27, has consistently denied the accusations, asserting that the encounter was consensual.
In a statement posted on X on Tuesday, he expressed frustration with the process while reiterating his innocence: “Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false. This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to the genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”
No trial date has been publicly announced.
