A doctor who reportedly treated Queen Camilla and other members of the British Royal Family has been found dead at her home near the royal Sandringham Estate, with her husband charged with her murder.

Dr Hannah Cain, professionally known as Dr Hannah Terry, was 45 and worked at Grimston Medical Centre in Norfolk. She was reportedly part of a pool of doctors regularly on call for members of the Royal Family, including Queen Camilla.

Cain was found unconscious in an upstairs bedroom at the family’s home in Dersingham in the early hours of Sunday, October 4, after emergency services were called at about 2:25 a.m.

Prosecutor Jackie Hanlon told Norwich Magistrates’ Court that Cain was found “not breathing, not conscious.” A post-mortem examination found a blunt-force injury to the right side of her head and another injury that could be suggestive of compression of the neck.

Her husband, Mark Cain, 45, was arrested and has since been charged with her murder. He appeared in court but was not required to enter a plea at that stage and remains in custody. He is expected to appear before King’s Lynn Crown Court.

The circumstances have drawn particular attention because Cain was reportedly hosting a sleepover for her three children and their friends at the time of her death.

The couple had three sons, born in 2013, 2015 and 2018. The children and their friends were reportedly present at the property when the incident occurred.

Cain’s home was located less than two miles from King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s Sandringham Estate. Sources cited by British media said the King and Queen had been informed of her death.

The motive for the alleged killing has not been disclosed. At the same time, Norfolk Police have stressed that the investigation remains in its early stages as officers work to establish exactly what happened.

Meanwhile, tributes have described Cain as a warm, kind and highly respected doctor who was deeply devoted to her family and patients.

Grimston Medical Centre, where she worked, expressed sadness over the death but said it would not comment on the circumstances, noting that official updates would come from Norfolk Police. The practice was temporarily closed following the tragedy.

The case has shocked the local community, particularly because of the setting and the presence of children in the home.

For now, Mark Cain remains accused, not convicted, as the investigation and court proceedings continue.
