The Real Life Mathematics Initiative has collaborated with relevant stakeholders to applaud the remarkable accomplishments of teachers.
Awards were presented to outstanding teachers as a way of commending and motivating them.
Disclosing this at the second edition of “Celebrating Teachers Excellence and Award” held yesterday at Junior Secondary School Wuse zone 3, Abuja, the convener of the initiative, Mr Joshua Ibeazor, said teachers in Nigeria were doing a lot of work and need to be celebrated properly.
He said; “Nigerian teachers are doing a lot with little or no resources. If you enter some schools, there are no seats for the students, how can we teach when we don’t even have internet facilities for digital learning, especially in government schools and yet we put in our best. Well, in this renewed hope, I believe there is hope for everyone. And a way to raise hope is to celebrate you, we celebrate you teachers, you are the best.”
He stressed the need for private organisations to join hands with the government in supporting teachers’ welfare, inspire and motivate educators, and encourage them to make greater contributions to society.
Speaking at the event, the permanent secretary FCTA, Mr Olusade Adesola, represented by the director, School Services, Education Secretariat, Mrs Magdalene Uzoanya, stressed the need to value and support teachers in their continuous efforts.
She said teachers are the architects of the future and hence, their efforts and positive impact they have on the lives of children and the nation as a whole should be acknowledged and rewarded.
PTA chairman of JSS Wuse Zone 3, Ms Hephzibah Ejele advised government and the private sector to give their best in supporting teachers, saying if this was done, the future of the young ones would definitely be better.
