The statement reads in part: “It’s great to hear that the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Emeka, has taken a stance against illegal detention and torture of arrested persons by vigilance group members.

“Such actions are not only illegal but also inhumane and violate the rights of individuals. It’s important for law enforcement officials to uphold the rule of law and ensure that all individuals are treated fairly and with dignity.

“Civil-Military Police and Paramilitary Relations also appreciate the redeployment of Divisional Police Officers in two affected areas of the state, where they heads of police formation failed to live up to their duties.

“By speaking out against these practices, the Commissioner of Police is sending a clear message that such actions will not be tolerated in Rivers State. This helps promote accountability and professionalism within the police force and encourages the protection of human rights.”
