Riyadh 2025: Team Nigeria Wins Women’s 400x100m Relay Gold

Team Nigeria’s medal tally continued to rise at the ongoing 6th Islamic Solidarity Games dubbed ‘Riyadh 2025’ in Saudi Arabia, securing yet another gold medal, silver and two bronze medals on Wednesday night at Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Stadium in Riyadh.

The quartet of Iyanuoluwa Toyin Bada, Oluebube Miracle Ezechukwu, Maria Thompson Omokwe and Chioma Cynthia Nweke emerged as winners of the 4x100m Women’s relay race with a time of 44.27s. Bahrain took silver with 44.47s while The Gambia settle for bronze with 45.05s.

In the Men’s 400x100m relay, the quartet of Caleb John, Chidera Ezeakor, Ezekiel Eno Asuquo and James Taiwo Emmanuel secured bronze medal for Nigeria with 39.52s, behind hosts Saudi Arabia who won gold with 39.19s and Oman took silver with 39.21s, respectively.

Earlier on Wednesday night at the same venue, Patience Okon-George clinched silver in the women’s 400m final and Samuel Adams Kure claimed bronze in the Men’s Javelin Throw, respectively.

Okun-George clocked a time of 51.93s, just outside her Season’s Best, finishing behind Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain who won gold with a time of in 51.59s. Uganda’s Leni Shida took bronze with 52.72s.

In the Men’s Javelin Throw, Adams Kure won with 76.01m throw in his 5th attempt after attempted 71.91m, 75.46m, 72.58m and 71.38m. His final throw was 75.54m. Pakistanis duo of Arshad Nadeem and Muhammad Yasir took gold and silver medals with the throw of 83.08m and 76.04m respectively

With their achievements, team Nigeria is 9th on the medal table with 25 medals comprising eight gold, 10 silver and seven bronze medals.

Turkey leads the medal log with 68 gold, 42 silver and 38 bronze, follow by Uzbekistan with 26 gold, 30 silver and 26 bronze. Iran is third on the table with 21 gold, 18 silver and 25 bronze. Hosts Saudi Arabia are seventh on the medal standing with 11 gold, 6 silver and 22 bronze.
