Russia has imposed a temporary ban on aviation (jet) fuel exports until November 30, in a move aimed at safeguarding domestic supply amid ongoing Ukrainian strikes on its energy infrastructure.
The decision, announced on Monday, comes as Ukraine continues attacks on Russian oil refineries and other strategic energy facilities, disrupting production and placing pressure on internal fuel distribution networks.
Authorities in Moscow said the restriction is intended to stabilise domestic demand and ensure sufficient aviation fuel availability within the country during the period of disruption.
Russia is a major exporter of refined petroleum products, including aviation fuel, which is typically transported by rail to several Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. These routes are expected to be affected by the temporary suspension.
The latest measure adds to a series of energy-sector restrictions introduced to manage supply pressures as the country’s refinery infrastructure continues to experience disruptions linked to the ongoing conflict.
The export suspension highlights the growing strain on Russia’s energy system as it balances domestic fuel security with external trade obligations amid prolonged wartime conditions.
