Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has written a letter to the House of Assembly seeking approval to reorder some amounts from the state’s N4.4 trillion 2026 Budget.
Sanwo-Olu said the reordering would enable the government to give priority attention to capital expenditure and palliatives to cushion the effects of the current economic challenges faced by residents of the state.
Sanwo-Olu’s letter was read on the floor of the House yesterday by the Clerk, Mrs Adenike Osiniwo. The governor asked the Assembly to amend the 202026 Appropriation Bill because only 69 per cent of the budget had been implemented.
He said the amendment will ensure that priority is given to projects that would make a meaningful impact on Lagosians.
In his submission, Hon Aro Moshood advised that in reordering the budget, cognisance should be given to projects that would make a meaningful impact in view of the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
He said the amendment should be targeted at environmental challenges, such as drainage, to reduce flooding.
The speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, committed the bill to the Committee on Budget and Planning with a mandate to report back to the House on 31st August, 2026.
