The Save Nigeria Group USA has said the recent remarks by the general overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Adeboye, were misrepresented, adding that they focused on Nigeria’s security crisis and the need for international cooperation.
The President of Save Nigeria Group, Stephen Osemwegie, who disclosed this in a statement, said some people were selectively circulating only the portion where Adeboye said the President “has done his bit” on security.
He said the pastor’s remarks included support for the Donald Trump administration’s involvement to avert a wider humanitarian crisis in Sub-Saharan Africa.
According to him, “We wish to inform the general public that presenting only this isolated excerpt does not reflect the broader context of Pastor Adeboye’s message. In our view, the central theme of his address was his deep concern about the persistent insecurity in Nigeria and his urgent appeal to all stakeholders, including government, civil society, faith-based organisations, human rights advocates, and diaspora groups such as Save Nigeria Group USA, to work together to confront the crisis.
“Pastor Enoch Adeboye emphasised the importance of international cooperation and expressed support for the involvement of the administration of President Donald Trump and other global partners in helping Nigeria avert what he warned could develop into a severe humanitarian crisis across Sub-Saharan Africa, with broader political and economic implications for the international community.”
While addressing a gathering in the United States, Pastor Enoch Adeboye expressed profound concern about the state of affairs in Nigeria, particularly regarding the suffering of schoolchildren kidnapped by terrorists.
