School-Based Management Committee Chairman Urges Team Work

The national chairman, School-Based Management Committee (SBMC), Abdullahi Umar has urged members of the committee at state levels to work as a team to achieve their mandate.

Umar stated this at the inauguration of Abia State School-Based Management Committee by the government in conjunction with the State Universal Basic Education Board in Umuahia, the state capital.

The chairman, who is the Waziri of Gwandu in Kebbi State advised members of the committee with relevant stakeholders to uplift the standard of education in the school system.

Congratulating the members of the committee for the occasion, he appreciated the state governor, Alex Otti, for his administration’s visible transformation in the education sector.

In his remarks, the commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education,  Goodluck Ubochi, charged them to see the appointment as a call to service to ensure the protection of schools’ infrastructure.

He further enjoined them to bring on board valuable ideas and innovation that will assist improve school standards, urging them to uphold professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

Also speaking, the executive chairman of the board, Lydia Onuoha said the establishment of the committee would advance the education sector in the state through collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

On his part, the South East chairman of SBMC, Stephen Uchenna described the inauguration as another step by the present administration in the state to enhance academic excellence.

Responding, the chairman of the committee, Amaechi Ikenyirimba assured that they will work with relevant statholders in the education sector to deliver their set goals.
