The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has dismissed claims by its former national chairman, Shehu Musa Gabam, saying Sadiq Gombe Remain it’s National chairman.
In a statement released by Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, National Publicity Secretary of the SDP, the party said Gabam’s claims were a desperate bid to distort facts and mislead the public, adding that he had been expelled from the party for financial misappropriation and was no longer a member.
Aiyenigba emphasized that Gabam’s actions were a clear indication of his refusal to accept reality, stressing that the recent Court of Appeal judgments were related to the Ekiti Governorship primary election and not to the leadership of the party, and that Gabam was not a party to the suit.
He also reiterated that Prof. Sadiq Umar Abubakar Gombe remained the legitimate National Chairman, as affirmed by the National Executive Committee (NEC), and that Gabam’s claims were baseless.
Aiyenigba urged members and supporters to remain focused on the party’s goals and not be swayed by Gabam’s antics, saying the party would continue to work towards producing credible candidates for the 2027 elections.
“The party is committed to promoting democracy, social justice, and national development, and would not be distracted by Gabam’s claims,” he added.
Aiyenigba called on Nigerians to join the party’s mission to rescue the country from the current administration and build a better future for all.
