Security Operatives Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, successfully rescued eleven victims from the hands of armed kidnappers on the night of Sunday, June 8, 2025.

The operation which marked a breakthrough in the fight against kidnapping and banditry, took place around 10:30 p.m. along the Danmusa to Mara Dangeza Village road in Danmusa local government area following a coordinated patrol by the joint security team.

The team included operatives from the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Operation Sharan Daji, the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and local vigilantes.

According to a statement by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, the security team encountered a group of armed bandits attempting to escape with victims kidnapped from various parts of the state.

Aliyu narrated that a fierce gun battle ensued, forcing the bandits to flee and abandoning their captives.

He said all eleven victims comprising nine females and two males, were rescued unharmed.

The PPRO disclosed that investigation was currently underway to identify and apprehend the fleeing suspects, with the police vowing to maintain pressure on criminal elements operating within the state.

Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Bello Shehu commended the operatives for their gallantry and professionalism during the operation, he reaffirmed the Command’s commitment, alongside other security forces towards eradicating kidnapping and other crimes in Katsina State.

CP Shehu also called on residents to remain vigilance and continue to cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious activities promptly.

The Command further reiterated the importance of community involvement in improving safety and security across the state.
