In a conversation with LEADERSHIP, Senator Girei said that President Tinubu’s pragmatic and decisive governance style, particularly in addressing Nigeria’s long-standing economic challenges, is worthy of commendation.

Senator Girei also applauded President Tinubu for honouring a proud son of Adamawa State with the national honour of CON, the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mal. Nuhu Ribadu has helped in no small measure in addressing security challenges in the country.

Senator Girei said President Tinubu has implemented bold economic reforms in the area of economic reforms and structural adjustments, such as removing the fuel subsidy and unifying Nigeria’s exchange rates.

While acknowledging the short-term hardships these measures may cause, Senator Girei believes they are essential for the nation’s long-term economic stability. He emphasised that these steps are necessary to rectify the economic mismanagement of the past years, which he attributes to widespread corruption and policy inertia.

The Senator, known for his uprightness on national issues, advocated for the establishment of an independent judicial commission to investigate and recover funds misappropriated over the past decade. He suggested that such an initiative could uncover significant financial misconduct, potentially stabilizing the country’s economy.

“I also urge President Tinubu to enforce strict accountability measures for public officials, ensuring that only those with integrity and competence are entrusted with leadership roles going forward.

Senator Girei’s support for President Tinubu underscores a shared commitment to pragmatic governance and national transformation. While acknowledging the challenges of necessary reforms, Girei emphasises the importance of decisive leadership and accountability in steering Nigeria towards a prosperous future.

Although the senator acknowledges that there may be some challenges presently, he expressed optimism that President Tinubu is committed to making life better for Nigerians. He added that in 2027, many changes would happen, and the APC would secure another victory, especially in Adamawa.

“President Tinubu is demonstrating pragmatic leadership, which suggests that his leadership style is focused on practical, results-oriented decision-making rather than ideological or populist approaches”, he stressed.
