LONE SURVIVOR
A common theme among films based on true events is that they tend to be adapted from novels, and 2013’s Lone Survivor is no different, having been taken from Marcus Luttrell’s autobiographical novel of the same name. This film explores the great lengths that industrialist, Nazi party member, and enamelware maker, Oskar Schindler, went to protect over a thousand Jews working at his factory.
GLORY
The 1989 movie starred two of the most prominent Black actors of their respective generations, Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman. Glory is a film that concerns the story of one of the Union Army’s first all-Black regiments, and the prejudicial nature of both sides during the conflict.
