Vice President Kashim Shettima has on behalf of President Bola Tinubu condoled the Nigerian Army and Borno State government over recent attacks by terrorists which claimed the lives of a commanding officer, Brig. Gen. Oseni Braimah and other personnel.

According to a statement by his spokesman, Stanley Nkwocha, the vice president said, “These men wore the uniform for all of us. They stood to protect our communities, our families, and the future of our children. Their courage reminds us that peace and security often come at a very heavy cost.”

He assured of the continued support of the federal government, saying criminals would have no hiding place under President Tinubu.

Shettima was received by Governor Babagana  Zulum, the Theatre Commander Operation Hadin Kai, Maj. Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar and other top government officials.

The vice president said the heart of the president bled with the families of those who lost their lives.

“On behalf of the president I wish to convey our deep heartfelt condolences to the officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces and the other allied forces for the lives lost.

“Our hearts bleed, we grief with the families, the nation griefs with the families and the supreme sacrifices by our gallant officers and men.

“No matter how long the night is, it must give way to the light of the dawn. Certainly in the fullness of time, truth, justice and light shall succeed over darkness and madness,” he said.

He said the federal government was behind the armed forces and would continue to support them as well as the bereaved families and the people of Borno State, among other states facing security challenges.
