The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Benue State Chapter, has unveiled a university lecturer, Prof. Terhemba Shija as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the Benue state NDC Publicity Secretary, Agile Ordedoo Bem, said Prof. Shija, accompanied by the Benue State Chairman of the party, Ohini Ojegbe, the State Leader, Prof. Isaac Onyike, and other key stakeholders, visited the party’s National Secretariat to obtain his nomination form, “bringing to a close all issues surrounding the party’s governorship candidature in Benue State”
According to the statement, speaking after the exercise, the State Chairman, Ohini Ojegbe, expressed satisfaction that the process, which had lingered for some time, had finally been concluded.
He called on other aspirants to demonstrate the spirit of sportsmanship by rallying behind the party’s candidate and working together to ensure the NDC’s victory in the 2027 governorship election.
In his remarks, Prof. Terhemba Shija thanked the State Working Committee, the National Working Committee, party stakeholders, and members of the Benue NDC family for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged not to disappoint the party and its supporters but to work diligently toward providing purposeful leadership for Benue State.
Shija also appealed to those who contested alongside him to regard his emergence as a collective victory and join hands with him in strengthening the party ahead of the general elections.
“The party is further pleased to inform its members and the general public that Prof. Terhemba Shija’s name has been successfully uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal as the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate for Benue State” the statement stated.
