A former vice chancellor of the Plateau State University, Prof. Domnan  Danjuma Sheni, has called on President Bola Tinubu to sign the North Central Department Commission (NCDC) bill in honour of the late Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni.

In a tribute to the late former minister of the FCT, he  said as a pioneer founding chairman of the North Central People’s Forum Board of Trustees (BoT), Useni fought tirelessly to see the emergence of the NCDC.

He said the late general would be pleased even in death if the president could accelerate the emergence of the commission.

He described Useni as a humanitarian who had compassion for the poor, widow, orphans and other vulnerable members of the society, adding that his death was a tremendous loss to the nation, North Central region, Plateau State and Tarok nation.

He said, “Some of us who knew him well and were with him recently in the hospital expected that he would pull through, but that did not turn out to be so.

“General Useni’s contributions cannot all be listed, apart from his gallant performances in his military career, he served the nation as governor of Bendel State, twice a minister, member of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), founder of a political party and senator in the NASS.”
