The Anambra State chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has declared that Governor Charles Soludo’s administration will not extend beyond 2025.

The party’s State Chairman, Hon. Emeh Ugochukwu, said this in a press conference communique on Wednesday, citing the governor’s alleged poor performance and public dissatisfaction with the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) government.

He countered by praising Nwoye’s achievements in the National Assembly during his first six months, highlighting his efforts in securing funding for road rehabilitation, pushing for police reform, and advocating for increased federal representation for Anambra State.

Addressing journalists, Ugochukwu stated that the Labour Party is strategically positioned across the three Senatorial Districts to wrest power from the incumbent governor and APGA in the upcoming 2025 governorship elections.

Ugochukwu urged the public to disregard APGA’s recent statement through its National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, discrediting Senator Tony Nwoye as an error that must be rectified by Anambra North.

Responding to APGA’s comments, Ugochukwu said that Governor Soludo’s administration would not see re-election due to perceived poor performance. He highlighted the LP’s ongoing internal restructuring aimed at tackling future challenges effectively.

The LP chairman expressed pride in the party’s national leader and presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, noting the significant votes LP garnered in the 2023 general elections. He praised LP members who assumed various political positions and commended their achievements within the six months of their tenure.

He said, “Our Great Party, since the Supreme Court verdict, has been undergoing some internal restructuring in order to face the challenges ahead. I believe in a few months time, Nigerians and Ndi Anambra will see a brand new Labour Party.

“We all know that Labour Party is a mass movement for all Nigerians irrespective of Tribe, Religion or Ethnicity. Nigerians voted massively for our National Leader and Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi and all our candidates in the 2023 general elections.
“Although the outcome of the election and Court Processes has come and gone; we make bold to say, we are proud of our son and Presidential Candidate, Mr Peter Obi.”

Regarding the criticism directed at Senator Tony Nwoye, Ugochukwu lauded the senator’s leadership style and vocal stance on state and national issues. He affirmed that Nwoye’s reminder to Governor Soludo about perceived betrayals had stirred fear among APGA circles, leading to unwarranted media attacks against the LP and Senator Nwoye.

Ugochukwu urged the APGA government to focus on delivering quality representation to Anambra citizens, alleging insensitivity to people’s plights and diversion of palliatives meant for cushioning the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

Additionally, the LP lauded Senators Nwoye and Victor Umeh for their impactful representation in the National Assembly, citing various motions and bills they sponsored or co-sponsored, emphasizing their commitments to developmental projects in Anambra North and other areas.

The LP concluded by highlighting Senator Nwoye’s efforts in facilitating road rehabilitation, initiating bills for educational development, and advocating for the South East in federal appointments, among other contributions.

They praised Umeh’s interventions on national issues, particularly in addressing building demolitions in Lagos, affirming the success story of LP in Abia State as a testament to their principles.
