SSA Adeboye Appoints Veteran Journalist George Aluo Media Consultant

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development, Adeyinka Anthony Adeboye, has appointed veteran sports journalist and former Nigeria National League (NNL) chairman, Chief George Aluo, as Media Consultant to his office.

The appointment, which takes effect immediately, is part of efforts to strengthen strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and public awareness around the Federal Government’s grassroots sports development agenda.

Aluo brings more than three decades of experience in sports journalism, media management and football administration to the role.

He previously served as chairman of the NNL, Nigeria’s second-tier football league, and has held senior editorial positions in the Nigerian media.

Announcing the appointment, Adeboye said Aluo’s experience across journalism, football administration and sports development would be valuable to the office as it expands its programmes and engagements across the country.

“Chief George Aluo is coming into this responsibility with enormous experience and a deep understanding of Nigerian sports,” Adeboye said.

The presidential aide said the appointment was timely as the office intensifies efforts to build a more structured and sustainable grassroots sports development system.

He stressed the importance of effective communication in ensuring that government, schools, communities, sports federations, clubs, academies, coaches, athletes, parents and the private sector understand and support the initiative.

Adeboye charged Aluo to use his professional experience and media network to project the office’s programmes and policies, while strengthening relationships with sports journalists and media organisations across Nigeria.

He said the appointment would also help amplify opportunities being created for young Nigerians under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Responding, Aluo expressed appreciation to Adeboye for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to contribute his experience towards advancing the office’s mandate and promoting grassroots sports development across the country.

Adeboye congratulated Aluo and expressed confidence that his appointment would strengthen the team’s efforts to create sustainable pathways for Nigeria’s next generation of sporting talents.
