The Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has described the recent controversies arising from the staff audits by the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke as “unfortunate and embarrassing.”
NNPP posited that Adeleke owed Osun people an open apology and a thorough explanation of the matter that had exposed the state to national and international shame.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Dr Tosin Odeyemi, NNPP queried why Governor Adeleke contracted Sally Tibbot Consulting Limited, which they are now describing as an “incompetent firm” in the first place.
He questioned the terms attached to the awarded contract, saying: “Why would the government tie commission to be taken by the firm to the number of ghost workers detected on the payroll?”
Odeyemi wondered how well Adeleke knew Sally before the contract was awarded, adding that Adeleke forced Osun workers to submit to the audit against their wishes.
His words: “He signed Osun labour, retirees into slavery of an ‘incompetent auditor’ appointed solely because of closeness to the Adeleke dynasty. It is on record that workers protested the audit and Sally’s approach to it. Have they not been vindicated now?
“Adeleke should immediately confess how many such slave contracts he has entered into on behalf of the state through his incompetence. In sane claim, the mess around the Staff audit is enough for a public administrator to throw in the towel,” Odeyemi posited.
It would be recalled that Sally Tibbot’s firm alleged on national television that a N13.7 billion yearly fraud involving over 5,000 ghost workers was discovered in its forensic payroll audit, while the state government dismissed the claims as false, defamatory, and an attempt at blackmail.
