The 68th meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa between June 11 and 13, 2025 brought together tourism stakeholders from across the continent to Abuja.
The landmark event aimed to promote sustainable tourism development, foster regional cooperation and unlock Africa’s vast tourism potential.
In his welcome address, the secretary general of UN Tourism, Hon. Zurab Pololikashvili, emphasised the importance of collaboration between Africa and other regions to drive tourism development.
“The 68th meeting of the UN Tourism Regional Commission for Africa sets the stage for Africa’s tourism industry to thrive, the agency for tourism has been instrumental in promoting sustainable tourism practices, education and investments in the sector,” Pololikashvili stated.
The summit provided a platform for stakeholders to forge strategic partnerships, share best practices and discuss innovative solutions to drive growth and development in Africa’s tourism industry.
