Participants of the Senior Executive Course (SEC) 47 of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) have been advised to remain physically and mentally alert for national assignments, particularly in safeguarding Nigeria’s Maritime environment, a key aspect of the Blue Economy.

The Monitor General of SEC 47 Col Mukhtar Darado made this known during the closing ceremony of sports week for 2025 participants of the Senior Executive Course in Jos at the weekend .

He described the three-day event as rewarding, unifying, which is essential for leadership development stressing that the exercise has reinforced mental alertness, discipline, and teamwork among participants, the qualities needed for enhancing Nigeria’s security and national development.

LEADERSHIP reports that the three-day sports event underscores the Institute’s commitment to promoting not only intellectual development but also physical wellbeing and social bonding among participants.

According to Darado the 2025 theme ” Blue Economy and Sustainable development in Nigeria, Issues, Challenges and Way Forward” given to SEC 47 by President Bola Tinubu is timely, adding that they will be presenting their report and finding at the end of November this year to the president .

Also speaking, the director general of NIPSS, Prof. Ayo Omotayo, represented by the acting director of Studies, Barr Salman Mann, said the Sports Week provided an opportunity for participants to unwind after months of intensive academic work.

Mann noted that SEC 47 participants had spent the past 10 months working rigorously on their Individual Research Projects and the Policy Report on the theme “Blue Economy and Sustainable Development in Nigeria,” and commended the resilience of the participants.
