Sultan Confers Traditional Title On Kebbi Governor

The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Sa’ad Abubakar II, has conferred the traditional title of Gwarzon Daular Usmaniyya on Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris, for his contributions to humanity.

Presenting the appointment letter at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi yesterday, the representative of sultan, the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Samaila Muhammed Mera, said the title of Gwarzon Daular Usmaniyya is usually given to someone who devotes his life to humanity in his state and the country.
He said the Sultanate was aware of the governor’s benevolence, charity and contributions to the development of education, health and humanity.

The date of the coronation will be communicated to the Kebbi government by the Sultanate Council in due course, he added.

Receiving the letter, Governor Nasir Idris thanked the Sultanate Council for finding him worthy of such an exalted title. He said government and people of Kebbi State would fix time to meet to with the sultan in Sokoto to express their appreciation over the appointment.
