Nigeria’s interim Super Falcons head coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has said his team earned their 2-0 away victory over Comoros in the first leg of their 2028 Olympic Games second-round qualifier.
The 10-time African champions scored both goals after half-time through Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu.
Speaking to NFF media, Eguavoen admitted he was anxious at the break after a goalless first half, even though Nigeria had controlled much of the opening period.
He explained that while a draw away from home could be considered a fair result, Nigeria’s reputation and quality meant the 0-0 scoreline at half-time was a concern.
The coach said he remained confident that his side would eventually find the net, noting that it was only a matter of time because they dominated the first half from start to finish.
He added that Comoros put up a strong fight, but Nigeria proved their superiority.
The Super Falcons will now take a two-goal advantage into the second leg against Comoros at the Remo Stars Sports Complex in Ikenne next Tuesday.
