The national chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Alhaji Yusuf Dabo Dantalle, has asked state governors, whose election dispute has been resolved by the Supreme Court, to urgently shift their focus from litigation to the critical task of governance. Dantalle reminded the governors of their primary responsibility to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people who entrusted them with their mandate.

He stated this when he congratulated all political parties who emerged victorious in the recent Supreme Court judgements on governorship elections in Kano, Plateau, Ebonyi, and Abia States.

He extended his warm wishes to Governors Abba Kabir Yusuf (Kano), Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi), and Alex Otti (Abia) on their affirmed mandates.

Dantalle, in a statement made available to LEADERSHIP in Abuja, yesterday, also expressed his profound appreciation to the other candidates and their parties who, despite not attaining victory, accepted the court’s pronouncements with maturity and grace.

He commended their commitment to upholding the rule of law and prioritising the stability of the Nigerian democracy.

While congratulating the victorious governors, the IPAC national chairman urged them to embrace the spirit of magnanimity in their moments of triumph and encouraged them to reach out to all stakeholders, irrespective of their political affiliations, and build bridges of unity and inclusivity within their states.

Dantalle emphasised the urgency of shifting focus from litigation to the critical task of governance. He reminded the governors of their primary responsibility to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people who entrusted them with their mandate. He urged them to prioritize addressing the pressing concerns of their constituents, such as security, economic development, job creation, and infrastructural development.

Dantalle commended all political stakeholders and their supporters for maintaining peace and decorum throughout the legal process and in the aftermath of the Supreme Court pronouncements. He attributed this positive outcome to the collective commitment to democratic principles and respect for the rule of law.

Dantalle reiterated IPAC’s unwavering commitment to promoting peaceful and credible elections, fostering inter-party dialogue and cooperation, and advocating for good governance across the country. He pledged IPAC’s continued support to all stakeholders in working towards a more vibrant and inclusive Nigerian democracy.
