Team Bayelsa emerged the overall winner of the 2023 National President Cup Open Championship organised by the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation (NTF).
The team won a total of nine medals comprising two gold, three silver and four bronze to finish first on the medal table of the three days event held at the Package ‘B’ of Moshood Abiola National stadium, Abuja

Team Bayelsa head coach, Judith Willaim, described the team success as a plus to her career. “Words can’t express how I feel but I must first thank God for the success we recorded here even though this is my first outing as the head coach of Bayelsa State Taekwondo Team.
“I specially thank our director of sports for the support given to us and also commended president of the Nigeria Taekwondo Federation for creating this kind of championship for athletes to showcase their skills,” Coach Judith said.
Chidinma Favour of Team Edo State won the overall best female player while Feysal Hamidou from Niger Republic won the overall best player for the championship.
