A teenage undergraduate of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Ibrahim Akindele, has won a 3-bedroom apartment in the ongoing Glo Festival of Joy promo. He thus became the first winner in the promo.

The 19-year-old Akindele, a 200-level student of Science Laboratory Technology, could hardly contain his joy and excitement while being presented the keys to the apartment in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

Having promised subscribers an exciting and rewarding experience, the telecommunications giant, Globacom, set the ball rolling with the presentation to Akindele.

The first of the planned presentations had the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mr. Debo Ogundoyin, and other key members of the State legislature present to hand over the keys of the apartment to the winner.

An overly excited Ibrahim disclosed that he was very skeptical at first when he was called and informed of the good news.

“I was in disbelief, I thought it was just someone making fun of me. It took me some time to get over that feeling,” he said.

Ibrahim, however, said that the decision on how to put the new apartment to use would be left for his parents to make.

His 54-year-old mother, Mrs. Funmilayo Akindele, was also filled with joy at the presentation and she displayed it for all to see. She disclosed that “the house will be a place of refuge for Ibrahim and his older brother while we will be coming to spend weekends with them.”

Speaking at the event, Globacom’s Head of Operations, West Territory, Mr. Akeem Yusuf, noted that the promo “is another opportunity for the company to reward its subscribers with amazing prizes in line with our commitment to the continued empowerment of our customers.

“Our commitment to the total well-being of our subscribers and the realization that shelter is one of the key needs of man have fuelled our desire to help some of them have houses of their own through this promo. This kind of prize is unprecedented as no brand has ever offered or presented such to their customers before.”

On November 17, Ibadan also played host to another prize presentation event with lucky winners going home with a brand new Kia car, power generating sets, sewing machines, rechargeable fans, among other prizes.

The Glo Festival of Joy is planned to create 20 house owners, 24 owners of brand new cars across major cities of the nation. Other loyal subscribers will also win power generators, sewing machines, rechargeable fans, among other prizes.

To participate in the promo, all a subscriber needs to do is to dial the dedicated short code, *611# and recharge with N500 weekly to stand a chance to win the rechargeable fan, N2,500 monthly recharge for the Sewing Machine, N5,000 monthly recharge for the generator, N10,000 monthly recharge for the car and N20,000 data subscription during the promo period for the house.
