Golf legend Tiger Woods was arrested late Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence after being involved in a car crash near his Jupiter Island home.
ESPN reports that Woods, 50, was driving a Land Rover northbound on South Beach Road at high speed when he attempted to pass a truck.
Woods’ SUV swerved, clipped the back of the truck’s trailer, and subsequently flipped onto its side, sliding down the road.
Woods was able to exit the vehicle through the passenger window. Fortunately, neither Woods nor the other driver sustained injuries in the accident.
Woods was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He was booked into jail and released on bail later Friday, after fulfilling Florida’s mandatory eight-hour jail stay for such offenses, according to Christine Weiss, a spokesperson for the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
