The chairman of the South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), Dayo Adeyeye, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu could become the first Nigerian leader to win all 36 states in the forthcoming 2027 general election.
Adeyeye stated this in Akure, the Ondo State capital, during the launch of SWAGA 2.0, where he argued that Nigeria would have faced economic collapse if not for decisive steps taken by Tinubu on assumption of office.
According to him, key reforms such as the removal of fuel subsidy and the halt of excessive monetary financing saved the country from bankruptcy and restored fiscal stability.
He noted that prior to Tinubu’s administration, the federal government relied heavily on “Ways and Means,” which he described as the printing of money without corresponding productivity, pushing the economy to the brink.
Adeyeye warned that without urgent intervention, the naira could have become worthless, while inflation and fuel scarcity would have worsened, crippling businesses and livelihoods across the country.
He added that the administration’s policies had significantly improved revenue allocation to states and local governments, enabling them to meet obligations and execute projects.
”If not for some key aspects policies of Tinubu, I don’t know where Nigeria would be now.I want to assure you that by now, Nigeria would have been completely bankrupt, Maybe a litre of fuel would be selling for over 10,000, because you don’t even have the money to import it,” he said.
The SWAGA chairman also pointed to interventions in education, infrastructure and social support systems, insisting that Nigerians were already feeling the impact of the reforms at the grassroots level.
In his remark, the governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, expressed confidence that Tinubu’s growing acceptance across the country could translate into an unprecedented electoral victory.
Aiyedatiwa declared that Ondo State would contribute significantly to that ambition, revealing plans to deliver at least one million votes for the president in the 2027 election.
He said the target was achievable given the state’s voting strength and recent political alignments, noting that his victory across the 18 local government areas in the last governorship election demonstrated the capacity to mobilise voters.
He said, “I have won the entire 18 local governments, so it’s not impossible that the president will also win all the 36 states. We will work for it and pray towards that.”
The governor further stated that the influx of opposition figures into the ruling party was an indication that many Nigerians now see no viable alternative to Tinubu’s leadership.
He described SWAGA and other support groups as critical partners in grassroots mobilisation, assuring them of government support to expand their reach across communities.
In his address, convener of SWAGA, Oyetunde Ojo, said the group remained committed to sustaining the political movement that propelled Tinubu to power.
Ojo explained that SWAGA had been at the forefront of advocacy for key policy directions, including subsidy removal and educational support initiatives, long before they were implemented.
He said the group was re-energised under SWAGA 2.0 to consolidate on past successes and mobilise support for Tinubu’s second term.
The convener also urged state governments to judiciously utilise increased revenues accruing from subsidy removal for infrastructure and human capital development.
