A support group, the Tinubu Again Movement 2027, has set a target of mobilising 20 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The convener of the movement, Dr Titilayo Onyia, disclosed this in a statement she issued after the Nigeria Decide “Tinubu Again Movement 2027” solidarity walk held on Wednesday.

Onyia said the movement had been mobilising support for the President by raising awareness of what it described as the achievements, policies, and programmes of his administration.

She said the group had compiled 52 achievements of the administration in a booklet being distributed nationwide to document and publicise what it considers the government’s accomplishments.

According to her, the movement had also organised a town hall meeting attended by over 5,000 people, where the participants were sensitised on the administration’s policies, achievements and plans for a possible second term. Onyia said the movement believed that continuity in leadership was necessary for Nigeria to overcome its current challenges and sustain ongoing reforms.

She cited the United Kingdom (UK) as an example of a country that had experienced difficult periods before developing into what she described as one of the world’s most organised countries.

The convener also highlighted developments in infrastructure and social services, claiming that general hospitals across the country had received modern equipment, while universities had been refurbished and several roads rehabilitated under the current administration. She defended the removal of the fuel subsidy, saying that funds previously shared by a few individuals were now available to state governments for development.

On empowerment, Onyia said the Tinubu administration had prioritised support for vulnerable groups, including orphans, widows and students. She added that the movement had procured thousands of items for empowerment programmes, noting that President Tinubu had directed that empowerment initiatives should go beyond distributing food items such as rice, noodles and semovita.

Onyia commended the Board of Trustees of the movement, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, and the Director-General of the group, Dr Awal Abdullahi Aliyu, for their relentless efforts towards mobilising support for Tinubu’s re-election. She said the organisation was committed to delivering the 20 million votes it had pledged and that its members were working towards achieving the target.

She also called on other support groups, associations, and non-governmental organisations seeking to collaborate with the movement to attend its designated venue for clearance and registration. Onyia urged members and supporters to work together towards what she described as continuity in leadership ahead of the 2027 election.
