Governor Mai Mala Buni has described the emergency food and nutrition intervention by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a major relief for vulnerable residents in Yobe State.

The governor made this known while flagging off the distribution of Presidential Emergency Food and Nutrition items at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Damaturu, noting that the intervention demonstrates the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable Nigerians and strengthening food security.

Governor Buni expressed profound appreciation to President Tinubu for what he described as compassionate leadership and timely support to vulnerable populations, particularly at a time when many households.

He noted that the collaboration between the Federal Government and Yobe State Government reflects a shared commitment to improving the wellbeing of citizens and advancing recovery efforts in communities affected by insurgency.

“The Yobe state government sincerely acknowledge with gratitude the support and interventions from Mr President and the Federal Government, which have enabled states like ours to respond more effectively to the needs of our people.”

According to the governor, the intervention also aligns with the state’s broader humanitarian and recovery agenda aimed at restoring dignity, promoting livelihoods and supporting displaced and vulnerable populations across the state.

Buni highlighted that the Yobe State Government has taken decisive steps to strengthen humanitarian coordination, including the development of a State Policy on Internally Displaced Persons, which he said has positioned Yobe as a model for the resettlement, rehabilitation and reintegration of displaced persons with dignity.

Governor Buni urged beneficiaries to make proper use of the items for the intended purpose and cautioned against selling them, stressing that the support was meant to improve nutrition and support vulnerable households.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the Yobe State Government to continue working closely with the Federal Government, development partners and humanitarian organisations to ensure that vulnerable citizens receive the support needed to rebuild their lives.
