All these evil things you brought into your life because of sin. Many Israelites died, but you will not die in your sins. Please, stop blaming God, Moses, and other people for your problems. Come to God and admit your faults. If you confess your sins, God is faithful to forgive, pardon and cleanse you from your sins because of His compassion. Tonight, the mercy, compassion and turning-around of God will flow into your lives.
vs 7. The people came to Moses, no one forced them. They confessed their own sins, not the sins of others. Problems come to you when you sin against God, but when you repent and turn around, you will receive mercy. They didn’t first talk about the serpent bites. Some people only want healing and deliverance, but are not ready to pay the price of repenting of their sins. They didn’t confess the sin of Moses, some people confess the sin of others, they even claim that what others did was what pushed them into sin – what their parents, spouses, friends, etc did not do. Today is your day. If you come to the Lord, confess your sins and ask for the mercy of God, you will be saved.
B. COMPASSION AND CURE FROM THE CROSS OF THE HEALING SAVIOUR
(Number 21:8-9; Matthew 14:14; Mark 1:40-42; Luke 7:12-16)
Jesus is the Healing Saviour. When you organize and reorientate yourself and come to Him, forgiveness and conversion which bring a new life will come to you. He will help and save you no matter what you have done wrong.
Cure comes by reason of compassion and love of God. It is not His will that anyone should perish but that all should come to repentance. Have you heard the story of the great city of Nineveh in which everyone, old and young had gone into sin and Jonah was sent to warn them of the impending judgment. Jonah thought that as soon as God pronounced judgment, there was no going back. But the people of Nineveh repented and turned around in response to the warning of Jonah. This is the right step in the right direction. They were spared of the impending destruction. Jonah failed to realize that the mercy and love of God was available for the people, he was angry, thinking that as soon as he had pronounced the judgment, there was no way of escape for them.
The children of Israel came to Moses and confessed what they had done wrong, they also wanted healing. God is able to save, heal, deliver, set free and turn all lives of people around. He gave them a remedy: Moses should make a fiery serpent of brass and lift it up on a pole. As many as looked upon it will be healed and saved. Tonight, salvation, healing, deliverance, total renewal will happen. All who died, died of their sins died not because of Moses or Aaron. Those who were still alive looked up individually, no one looked up for the sake of another. Moses did not need to go and touch them, all they needed to do was to look up at the brazen serpent. It worked for everyone, just as it will work for you tonight. Christ has been lifted up when He died on the Cross, He became our Substitute, Saviour and Healer, and by His stripes, we were healed. It doesn’t matter how long, just look up and you will touched. They didn’t need to run around or shout, they only did what they were told to do, and they were healed.
Jesus made allusion to this when He was on earth:
John 3:14-15
• 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
• 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
He has taken our guilt and sin away by virtue of His death on the cross. As you come to Him, salvation will be yours. Not only this, you will also be healed of all sicknesses. When our Lord was on earth, a leper came, and he was healed and made whole. A centurion came on behalf of his sick servant, and he was healed. Jesus healed them all, and He will do same today. He will speak to the infirmity in your life and you will be healed. Anywhere you are in any part of the world, a miracle of healing will come to you.
C. CONVERSION THROUGH THE CROSS THE CROSS OF CHRIST, OUR HUMILIATED SUBSTITUTE (John 3:14-16; Acts 3:19-23,26; James 5:15-16,19-20; Romans 10:1)
Jesus took our place and pain, hence, He was our Substitute who was humiliated for our sake. He was sinless, spotless, pure, but He suffered what we should have suffered. He took our place, and tasted all punishment and pain for us. He was tied to the pole and whipped with stripes that had sharp objects attached to them which tore at His flesh. By coming to Him, He will not reject, but pardon and show you mercy. He will convert you and change your life. He will transform, rejuvenate and renew your nature, and you will no longer do evil. He will make you a brand new man, woman, father, husband, wife, mother, etc.
John 3:14-16. The children of Israel could not help themselves, but God has a way out for them. There is no other way of forgiveness, only thought the name of Jesus. He is the only One who can save and change us.
There is no other name through which we can be saved, the Son of Man must be lifted up for salvation to come. Your good works cannot save you, your salvation and redemption is through Christ alone. Whosoever – in past century, this century, and the one to come – believes on Him will not perish. Jesus is the only Saviour. Some people think that when they pay their dues, and do some good works, they will be saved.
On the last day, we will go to heaven not because we have read the Bible, or the good works of our hands but because of the death of Jesus on the Cross. There is no other way or avenue to salvation. Embrace and look on to Him as your only Saviour, He will save you and you will not perish.
Mark 16:15-16
• 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
• 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
He will write your name in the Book of Life and you will have eternal life. Everyone who trusts in Him will live. He will heal you, blind eyes and deaf ears will open. Whatever it is you need in your life will be given to you. Then He will show you His mercy and goodness and your life will never be the same. But it is necessary that you come to Him as the people came to Moses. As you look up to Him, salvation will come to you.
