Trabzonspor interim manager Hüseyin Çimşir has moved to quell concerns regarding striker Paul Onuachu’s fitness, stating that the injury sustained during Sunday’s dominant 5-0 victory over Gençlerbirliği is not a cause for alarm.
Onuachu, who netted two goals within the opening 22 minutes of the Süper Lig clash, was forced off the pitch shortly before halftime with what appeared to be a physical issue. The Nigerian forward was substituted in the 44th minute, making way for new signing Franculino Dju.
Despite the premature exit, Çimşir expressed confidence that the 30-year-old will be fit for the team’s upcoming fixtures. “I don’t think it’s anything serious. There’s no problem,” Çimşir told NTV Spor.
The forward opened the scoring in the fifth minute and doubled the Black Sea Storm’s lead in the 22nd minute before his departure. Onuachu has now registered two goals in four league appearances for Trabzonspor this season.
The club will next face Konyaspor away from home in their forthcoming league encounter.
