In a statement signed by the NRC Deputy Director of Public Relations, Yakub Mahmood, the Corporation reassured the public that all passengers arrived safely at their destinations.

“NRC engineers are currently addressing the issue on-site.

“The NRC apologises for any inconvenience and reiterates its commitment to passenger safety and comfort,” the statement read.

Earlier reports indicated that some coaches of a train, which departed from Rigasa Train Station in Kaduna to Abuja had derailed near the mountainous area of Jere in Kaduna State on Sunday.

Sources stated that the train, carrying numerous passengers, left Kaduna at around 8am. Approximately an hour into the journey, three coaches derailed.
