Two suspects were arrested, a 55-year-old Buba Idi and 29-year-old Isiyaka Yusufa, following credible intelligence on activities of the gunrunners at a settlement in Byepi Village along Tsukundi Road, in Wukari local government area of the State.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, who disclosed this, commended the troops for their swift action and professionalism, noting that the operation was part of ongoing efforts by the Brigade to combat illegal arms proliferation and enhance security across the State.

According to the Brigadier General Uwa, during investigation, the suspects gave useful information leading to the recovery of one AK-47 Rifle, one AK-47 Magazine, with 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one Tecno mobile phone and one Bajaj motorcycle.

The Commander added that the two suspects in custody are currently undergoing preliminary investigation and assured that the Brigade will ensure no criminal network has safe space to operate within its area of responsibility.
