UNIPGC Leader Honours Isheri Monarch With Global Peace Title

The United Nations International Peace and Governance Council (UNIPGC) has recognized His Royal Majesty Oba Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Lawal Bello, the newly crowned Onisheri of Isheri, with the prestigious title of “Commander of Peace” (COP).

The honor was conferred during a historic visit by UNIPGC Global President, Ambassador Jonathan Ojadah, to the Isheri Olofin Kingdom.

Oba Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Lawal Bello, Ilufemiloba Aremo Olofin Ogunfunminire, Olanwa 1 Olofin V, was commended for his exceptional contributions to grassroots community development, human capital advancement, and sustainable peacebuilding efforts.

The monarch’s efforts have transformed lives within the Isheri Olofin Kingdom, including sponsoring education for 180 students, organizing coding and quiz competitions, and supporting infrastructural development.

During the courtesy visit, Ambassador Ojadah expressed his admiration for the monarch’s dedication to peace and progress, stating:”On behalf of the United Nations International Peace and Governance Council, I extend our warm regards to His Royal Majesty for his hospitality and visionary leadership. Your reign exemplifies the values of peace, cultural preservation, and sustainable development, making you a distinguished and elite leader.”

As part of the recognition, the monarch was also included in the UNIPGC Advisory Council under the Committee of Culture and Tradition.

He will receive an Honorary Doctorate in Peace and Conflict Management from the American University of Peace and Governance (AUPG), USA.

The ceremony highlighted an invitation for His Royal Majesty and representatives of the Isheri Olofin Kingdom to participate in a three-day Executive MBA Masterclass.

Themed “The Role of Adaptive Leadership and Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Mechanisms for Consolidating Peaceful Co-Existence in Africa,” the masterclass will provide practical strategies for fostering unity and sustainable development.

Scheduled to take place at the University of Lagos from April 2–3, 2025, the event will culminate with a grand recognition ceremony at the Nigerian Armed Forces Resettlement Centre in Oshodi on April 5, 2025.

The event featured cultural displays that showcased the rich traditions of the Isheri Olofin Kingdom. Ambassador Ojadah presented His Royal Majesty with a medal, a certificate of honor, and a symbolic staff of office to mark the occasion.

In return, Oba Ibrahim Olasunkanmi Lawal Bello gifted Ambassador Ojadah five symbolic artifacts, including the “Olofin Ogunfunminire,” symbolizing the kingdom’s gratitude and heritage.

The monarch reaffirmed his commitment to promoting peace and cultural development, stating:”Your Excellency, your leadership inspires us to prioritize education, religious tolerance, and the preservation of our rich cultural heritage. Together, we will foster unity and growth in Isheri Olofin Kingdom.”
