A California court has ordered American comedian Bill Cosby to pay $19.25 million in damages in a civil sexual assault case.
The jury in Santa Monica found the 88-year-old actor liable for an incident dating back to 1972.
The case was filed by Donna Motsinger, who alleged that she was drugged and assaulted by Cosby.
Motsinger told the court that the incident occurred after the actor offered her medication, which left her incapacitated.
The jury ruled in her favour, awarding damages more than five decades after the alleged incident.
Cosby has denied the allegations.
His legal team has indicated plans to appeal the judgment.
The ruling adds to a series of legal battles involving the comedian in recent years.
