Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has emphasised the need for unity, harmony and discipline among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure sustained victory in future elections.

The governor made the appeal as the party embarked on Ward and Local Government Congresses nationwide to elect those who will pilot the affairs of the APC at the local level.

Addressing APC members in Imo State, at the Sam Mbakwe Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Owerri, Uzodimma urged them to collaborate in reinforcing the party’s structure and enhancing its electoral prospects.

The governor highlighted that the party’s success hinges on the cooperation and sincerity of its members, advocating inclusive leadership, and insisting that all voices within the party be considered in decision-making.

Uzodimma described the APC as a family bound by a common vision for development, urging members to dialogue to resolve disagreements.

“Our strength lies in our unity,” he said, encouraging members to prioritise the collective interests of the party and the community.

He recognised the efforts of APC leaders and grassroots mobilisers in expanding the party’s outreach and reiterated his administration’s commitment to development and security in the state.

As preparations for political activities evolve he called on stakeholders to maintain focus and unity, stressing that the future of the APC is determined by today’s actions.

The state chairman of APC, Sir MacDonald Ebere acknowledged the efforts and contributions of party leaders and members during the E-registration which saw Imo State emerging second in the whole of Nigeria.

He thanked the governor for creating the enabling environment for the party; while urging members to continue in their zeal, and push for a peaceful Congress.

The chairman of the APC’s National Working Committee for Ward and Local Government Congress, Hon. Godwin Anawore, highlighted the importance of the ongoing Ward Congress for the party’s future and the 2027 elections.

He commended the governor for giant strides achieved in Imo State and for the level of harmony existing among party leadership and members; asserting that the congress is vital for party’s success.

Anowore referenced Article 20.1 of the Party’s Constitution, which empowers the committee to conduct a credible congress. He emphasized the need for unity and committed leadership to ensure a transparent process and elect capable leaders to lead the party to victory in 2027.

Chief Malcolm Nlemigbo, former Imo State chairman of the APC, encouraged the members to elect only those who are ready to work for the party and are resident in the locality; while advising leaders to be discreet in their nominations to ensure harmony.

Contributing, deputy speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu urged the governor to lead the party’s congress to foster unity and strength ahead of the 2027 elections.

Iwuanyanwu highlighted that the party’s future relies on tested leadership and loyalty, calling for inclusivity, fairness, and transparency.

His motion was supported by Hon. Chisom Ojukwu, member representing Nkwerre in the Imo State House of Assembly.

Ojukwu advocated that the governor coordinates and harmonises the congress structure, emphasising the importance of collaboration over control.

The speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Chike Olemgbe subjected the motion that the governor leads the charge on how the congresses should proceed in Imo State to the approval or rejection by the Party faithful.

The acceptability in favour of the motion that the Governor leads the charge was overwhelming, with a thunderous yes.

The meeting was attended by party executives, elected officials and key stakeholders from across the state, who expressed renewed commitment to the ideals and objectives of the APC.
