Newly signed Virgin Birds records’ act, Ugwuanyi Daniel Obidii, popularly known as Double Mighty, has expressed his desire to be in the same studio with the Grammy-award winning singer Burna Boy, revealing that he shares similar musical philosophy with him.
Describing himself and Burna Boy as ‘two of a kind”, the Enugu State-born Afrobeat singer, who has been in the music industry for close to two decades now, said he can’t wait to do collaboration with the self-styled ‘ African Giant.”
We are two of a kind. I do the same abstract music like he does. His story is akin to mine. That’s why I want to collaborate with him,”the singer revealed.
Double Mighty delved into music in 2007, while he was a student of Civil Engineering at the Federal University of Owerri, FUTO. But before then, he had been singing in his church choir, from where he joined a live band as a back up singer.
After his graduation in 2012, Double Mighty secured a job to sponsor his music. But he never found fulfillment in the job, prompting him to stage a comeback to music.
In 2018, he dropped his first single titled, “Son of Grace.” And since then, he has many singles and EPs to his credit, having worked with notable artists in the country, including Slow Dogg , Hype MC and Douglas (Runtown).
Recently, he dropped a single titled “AJE’, a song that recaptures his journey into the world of music.
Speaking further, Double Mighty described himself as a versatile musician, adding “I do Afrobeats and highlife.”
He’s currently working on releasing his first studio album under the Virgin Birds Records before the end of September. The singer, however, is optimistic that he has what it takes to make it big in the Nigerian music scene. “I have passion for music and I am highly ambitious to make it in the industry,” he enthused.
Commenting on signing Double Mighty to his record label, actor Cyril Chukwuma Pharaoh said he saw a potential talent in him, adding that his music is unique and danceable, hence the decision to make him part of the Virgin Birds Entertainment family.
