A visiting delegation from NEAR Foundation Nigeria, Time to Help Germany, and Nigeria Tulip International College (NTIC) has applauded the Yobe State Government’s extensive investments in education, describing them as a strong foundation for a brighter future.

The team, led by Mr. Remzi Burtacgiray of NTIC Mamudo, was in Damaturu for the commissioning of a series of water projects executed across secondary schools in the state.

Burtacgiray commended Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration for committing substantial resources to revamping the education sector, noting that the improvements recorded in recent years are evidence of effective investment.

He explained that it was this visible progress that motivated NEAR Foundation and Time to Help Germany to collaborate with the government on clean water interventions, which have so far delivered 50 boreholes in selected secondary schools across Yobe State.

At Modu Mustapha Day Secondary School, Damaturu, where one of the projects was symbolically commissioned, Governor Buni, represented by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Muhammad Bello Kawuwa, described the clean water initiative as timely.

He said the intervention aligns with the government’s commitment to providing basic amenities required for conducive learning.

The governor reiterated the state’s readiness to collaborate with credible organisations to advance development across sectors.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Assoc. Prof. Abba Idris Adam, represented by Permanent Secretary Dr. Bukar Aji Bukar, along with directors from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education.

In a related development, the Yobe State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Time to Help Germany and NEAR Foundation to deepen support for the state’s education sector.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Bukar Aji Bukar on behalf of the ministry, while leaders of the two organisations signed for their respective bodies.
