Former Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the four-year suspension imposed on her for refusing to submit to an out-of-competition anti-doping test.

The 27-year-old Czech was suspended by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) in June after being found to have refused a doping control officer entry to her home on 3 December 2025.

Her suspension is due to run until 21 June 2030.

CAS has confirmed that it received Vondrousova’s appeal, although no date has yet been set for a hearing.

In her defence, submitted in April, Vondrousova said she was at “breaking point” following months of physical and mental stress when the incident occurred.

She claimed she feared for her personal safety when the testing officer arrived at her home at about 20:00 local time, alleging that the official had failed to identify themselves properly and had not followed the required testing procedures.

Vondrousova later signed a refusal form after leaving her home to walk her dog.

However, an independent tribunal that reviewed the case ruled that she had provided “no compelling justification” for refusing the test and rejected her request for a reduced sanction.

The ITIA ruling will remain in force unless CAS overturns or modifies the decision.

Vondrousova has not played competitively since the suspension was imposed.

She made history at Wimbledon in 2023 when she became the first unseeded woman to win the singles title, defeating Ons Jabeur in the final to claim her maiden Grand Slam crown.

The CAS appeal now represents Vondrousova’s latest opportunity to overturn or reduce the sanction and potentially revive her professional career before the suspension expires.
