The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced that train operations along the Warri-Itakpe corridor remain temporarily suspended, pending the completion of critical upgrades aimed at ensuring safer and more efficient service delivery.

NRC, through the acting deputy director of Public Relations, Callistus Unyimadu, said that although major technical faults that prompted the initial suspension on April 10 have been fixed, the corporation still requires time to implement additional safety measures and improve operational standards.

It was noted that downtime would also enhance customer service, upgrade equipment safety standards, and fine-tune operating procedures.

“The management of the Corporation under the leadership of Dr Kayode Opeifa wishes to further clarify that while the major technical issues have been resolved by our technical team, additional time is required to implement necessary redundancies that will support sustainable operations in line with best practices,” NRC said.

The NRC apologised for any inconvenience the suspension may have caused and assured passengers that the Warri-Itakpe Train Services would soon resume operations “bigger, stronger, and better.”
