Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni has said that his administration deliberately integrated young professionals into governance to combine fresh ideas and digital expertise with the experience of seasoned civil servants, a strategy he said has significantly improved service delivery across the state.

A statement issued by the director general Press Affairs and Media to the Governor, Alhaji Mamman Mohammed said Buni stated this while delivering a keynote address at the “Breaking Barriers to Trade and Leadership” Summit organised by the African Leadership Organization in Abuja.

According to the governor, the policy was informed by the state’s youthful population and the growing demand for innovation in public administration.

“The youth are generally more active in driving the digital economy, and for the state to remain in tune with the changing times, they deserve inclusion.

“We matched experience with fresh minds to accelerate service delivery in Yobe,” Buni said,
The governor explained that while experienced public servants provide institutional knowledge and guidance, younger professionals contribute digital skills, innovation and the energy needed to drive a modern, technology-driven public service.

He noted that the approach has produced remarkable results, pointing out that Yobe currently has one of the country’s youngest Secretaries to the State Government, while several young university lecturers have been appointed as chief executives of newly established departments and agencies, giving competent young professionals the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to governance.

The governor also highlighted his administration’s investments in agriculture, describing the sector as a major driver of food security, job creation and economic growth in the state.

Buni said government interventions have enabled many farmers to expand their cultivation, increase productivity and become employers of labour.

On infrastructure, Governor Buni said the extensive road network constructed across the state has improved the movement of people, goods and services, enhanced access to rural communities and strengthened security response adding that the roads have also eased the transportation of agricultural produce to the state’s newly established international markets, protecting farmers from exploitation by middlemen and improving their earnings.

Buni further disclosed that the Yobe International Cargo Airport is opening new opportunities for trade and investment, revealing that prospective investors have already expressed interest in establishing agro-allied industries, particularly in sesame seed processing.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building a resilient and prosperous Yobe through sustained investment in human capital development, agriculture, infrastructure and policies that promote trade, investment and inclusive economic growth.
