We Have Blueprint to Revamp Nigeria’s Economy, Guarantee Security – APM

The Allied People’s Movement (APM), said it has developed a pragmatic wide-ranging governance blueprint to swiftly resuscitate the productive sector, rebuild critical infrastructure, revamp the ailing economy, pull the nation from the brinks of collapse and restore dignity and comfort to the lives of all citizens.

The National Publicity Secretary of APM, Hon. Abubakar Yusuf in a statement said the blueprint will also reshape the nation’s broken security architecture and effectively check acts of terrorism and guarantee the security of lives and property across the country.

APM alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last 10 years, especially the last, governed Nigeria without a coherent economic blueprint resulting in a totally confused, careless and rudderless governance, characterized by massive corruption and reckless anti-people policies.

This, the opposition party said  led to biting economic hardship, hyper-unemployment, skyrocketing inflation, collapsed infrastructure and widespread insecurity.

“Largely due to APC government’s failures, in the last three years alone, official and independent reports indicate that no fewer than 628,000 Nigerians have been killed with over 2.2 million others including children and women abducted. Poverty rate has hit a staggering 63% with over 33.3% unemployment rate. More than 140 million Nigerians now live below the national poverty line.

“Due to worsening insecurity, collapsed public service and economic inflation exacerbated by unhealthy taxes and tariffs, major multinationals have been exiting our nation in droves. Over 3.7 million Nigerian youths and professionals have fled the country in what is now known as the “Japa” phenomenon resulting in the worst brain drain ever, especially in our education and health sectors.

“We in the APM are concerned that despite Nigeria’s vast resources and large population, poverty, unemployment and inflation continue to rise. The cost of basic commodities and services have become increasingly unaffordable with many families in distress and cannot afford their daily meals and other basic necessities of life.

“More distressing is that the future of over 250 million Nigerians is being mortgaged to foreign interests by the APC through reckless borrowings which has hit a frightening N159.28 trillion, with nothing on ground to show as most of the proceeds are reported to have been diverted to private purses.

“Today, our nation is in dire straits. Nigerians are heavily frustrated, agitated over bad leadership and earnestly seek for a new beginning. It is clear that the APM, with its ideological base, structure and composition, is the only platform that embodies that solution and new beginning.

“The APM blueprint is service oriented, forward looking and tailored to put Nigerians back to work, attract Foreign Direct Investment and boost private sector productivity through strategic investments in critical sectors including oil and gas, power, electricity, agriculture and food production; manufacturing, education, housing, healthcare among others,” the statement noted.

It assured Nigerians that at the right time, the comprehensive blueprint will be unveiled as the APM is poised to democratically take over the helm of affairs of our country in 2027.

“In government, the APM will be a listening party, committed to transparency, good governance, social justice, adherence to the Rule of Law, freedom of speech, respect for the right of citizens and overall well-being of all Nigerians,” the party added.
