Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has praised his players for their resilience in their victory over the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco.
Nigeria claimed a remarkable 3-2 victory over the hosts in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
The West Africans trailed 2-0 after 24 minutes and were second best to the Moroccans for much of the first half. Madugu reorganised his team shortly after the second half began, introducing Omorinsola Babajide and Jennifer Echegini.
The move proved effective, with the Super Falcons scoring three times afterwards through Esther Okoronkwo, Folashade Ijamilusi, and Echegini.
The coach stated that his players maintained their belief that they would win the game.
“If they didn’t have mental resilience, they would have given up,” Madugu said. “But they kept believing, and they earned this victory.”
