Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, aka Basketmouth, has explained why he shaded Wizkid while acknowledging Davido’s wedding’s influence on social media.

The comedian had during Davido and Chioma’s wedding on June 25, lamented difficulty in promoting his Canadian tour because all the attention was on the wedding.

He went on to add that even Wizkid’s social media drama didn’t get much attention because everyone was focused on Davido and Chioma’s wedding.

His shade at Wizkid didn’t sit down well with fans of the singer who threatened to “cancel” him.

Speaking on the incident on Backstage Banter with Isi Ijewere during the Toronto stop of his Canadian tour, Basketmouth explained that his shade at Wizkid was just “a marketing technique.”

He said, “Wizkid is my guy…that was a marketing technique. But I knew it was going to be edgy.

“I knew it was going to hit people. I knew they were going to get upset and they did exactly what I wanted them to do. It worked.”
