Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports suggesting that the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State has adopted or endorsed a governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
At a luncheon organised for candidates of the coalition in Port Harcourt on Saturday, Wike said the political alliance had only agreed to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration and had not taken any decision on who would emerge as its preferred governorship candidate in the state.
The former Rivers State governor cautioned aspirants against celebrating prematurely or creating the impression that they had secured the backing of the coalition, stressing that no such endorsement had been made.
According to him, claims that a particular candidate has already been chosen could mislead supporters and undermine the collective decision-making process of the coalition.
