A Florida woman accused of firing a rifle at the Los Angeles home of music superstar Rihanna has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder.
The suspect, 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, allegedly attacked the singer’s mansion on March 8. She faces over a dozen charges, including ten counts of assault with a semiautomatic weapon.
According to court documents, Ortiz fired about 20 rounds at the house. Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, and their three young children were inside at the time, along with several others. Fortunately, no one was injured in the attack.
Prosecutors argued in court that the shooting was planned, noting that Ortiz reportedly had a wig with her to use as a disguise.
Ortiz, who worked as a speech pathologist, remains in custody with bail set at $1.875 million. The judge has also banned her from practising her profession in California while the case continues.
Police arrested Ortiz at a shopping centre shortly after the shooting. If found guilty of all charges, she could face life in prison. She is expected back in court on April 8 2026, for a hearing.
