Women Africa International, a renowned international non-governmental organisation advocating for women’s rights, has distanced itself from a tampered website bearing its name.
The website is https://womanafricaintl.org/kc-section/team/, and sadly contains humorous content that does not align with the organisation’s principles.
In an official statement made available to newsmen yesterday in Abuja the president of Women Africa International, Rev Ijeoma Emeribe said that the public should disregard the aforementioned website until a thorough investigation is conducted.
It said the organisation strongly condemned this infringement on its intellectual property, particularly the unauthorised use of the founders’ names alongside unrelated photographs.
The statement said the motives behind the creators of the tampered website are unclear, leaving Women Africa International with pressing questions.
The organization, however, questioned the intent behind associating its name and the founders’ names with unrelated images, as these actions contradict the core values it upholds.
“We call on the general public to disregard the information on the website until investigation on the subject matter is concluded with an aim to unravel the origin of these misinformation and desperate attempt to smear the integrity of our organisation and its founder,” the statement said.
Furthermore, Women Africa International said it has valid reasons to suspect the involvement of Michael Glory, a web designer whom they initially hired to develop the website.
It said despite completing payment for his services, the developer has refused to provide them with the password to the website.
“As a result, the organisation urges law enforcement agencies to investigate Glory’s role in this matter,” it said.
Women Africa International urged the general public to disregard any information found on the tampered website until a comprehensive investigation concludes.
It said the organisation aims to uncover the origin of these misleading activities and the desperate attempt to tarnish its integrity and that of its founder.
The statement added that efforts to contact the web designer, Glory, have been unsuccessful, as his phone remains switched off at the time of reporting.
